Of late, there has been a significant interest shown by students from India to specialize in the following courses – MSc (Maths) / MSc (Computer Science) / MSc (Date Sciences) / Law / MA (Applied Economics) / MBA
Typically Admission Process in USA entails the following steps
- A student must understand his current skill set / educational qualifications / Experience and other curricular achievements
- Know the types of programs he/she can apply
- Prioritize the list of 1-2 courses he wants to study
- Evaluate and shortlist 8-10 universities /colleges to apply for admissions based on criteria of affordability/brand name/course or university ranking/cost of the complete course
- Prepare a Statement of Purpose or Essay as asked for by different universities
- Obtain Letters of Recommendation from current/previous professors (Education related) and from your superiors
- Apply to the SVEP approved Universities / Colleges at least 3 weeks before the cut-off date (preferably complete the process by mid-November of the year preceding the year of Fall intake) – SVEP is the Student Exchange Visitor Program
Steps to Apply for Student Visa USA
- Once the university offers you admission – they will issue you an I-20 or DS 160 form.
- The next step is to pay the SEVIS Fees (which can be done online also)
- 2-3 days after payment of SEVIS fees – you can submit the US Visa application
- The next step is to book an appointment with the US Embassy /Consulate nearest to your city
- For this, you need to pay the MRV Fees (Machine Readable Visa Fee)
- Note down the list of documents you need to carry for the embassy interview
- Attend the interview and wait for the result
